Come take the plunge with us at our annual Polar Bear Swim! Both Tidal Waves families and Blockhouse Creek residents are welcome to attend. Hot chocolate and donuts will be provided. Swim tests will be available to Blockhouse Creek residents who have swimmers that are interested in joining the team.

Do you have a new swimmer who is interested in joining the Tidal Waves for the 2026 season? Before they can be registered for the team, they will need to pass a swim test. Swimmers age 10 and under must swim one full 25-yard length of the pool unassisted. Swimmers age 11 and up must swim 50 yards (down and back) unassisted. At this time, proficiency in specific strokes is not required, but swimmers age 9+ need to swim with their face in the water. Our coaches and board members will be on-hand to oversee swim tests and provide more information on how to register for the team.

D&J Sports is staying open late just for us! Before you join us at Cabo Bob's for Spirit Night, head across the parking lot to D&J Sports to try on and purchase your team suit and any other swim gear you need for the start of the season.

The suits are available through D&J online, but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you have your swimmer try on the suit in person before purchasing. The team at D&J Sports do an excellent job of finding the right fitting suit for your swimmer. Because of the team personalization, the suits are not able to be returned once purchased.

If your swimmer is new to the team this season, they are invited to attend our new-swimmer practice on Monday, April 27th. We'll have two sessions:

5:30 PM - 6:15 PM  Last Name A-K

6:15 PM- 7:00 PM  Last Name L-Z

During this time, swimmers will learn what to expect from a typical swim team practice and experience swimming laps in a lane with other swimmers. The goal is for our new swimmers to feel confident as they head into their first age-group practice the following day.

Training Session 1 with Marisa and Amanda

Training will last approximately 30 minutes and cover stroke infractions, filling out a DQ slip, and relay exchanges. Prior knowledge or experience with swim is helpful, but not required.

Please note: in order to volunteer as a judge at any sanctioned meet this season, you must attend one of the two training sessions.
